It is important to remember to take good care of yourself and your loved ones during this time. Some tips that may be helpful at this time include:
- Acknowledge your feelings of fear, anxiety etc and understand that these feelings are normal emotional reactions at this time.
- Stay connected with family and friends by telephone, skype WhatsApp etc.
- Source your information of COVID - 19 from reliable sources such as the HSE. (Please see link below).
- Consider taking regular breaks from the constant media coverage of COVID - 19 and also a break from social media.
- Participate in activities you enjoy e.g. walk, listen to music, read a book, meditation, yoga, exercise, watch a film/comedy.
- Be mindful of nature and the onset of Spring.
- Eat regular nourishing meals and get plenty of rest and sleep.
ALONE, the organisation that supports older people, launched a national support line and additional supports for older people who have concerns or are facing difficulties during the coronavirus restrictions. The support line will be open Monday to Friday, 8am-8pm, by calling 0818 222 024, and hours may be extended to meet demand.
