It was a busy day in Jim Smith Park, Killinkere, with three adult matches back-to-back. At 11am, the ladies took on Cavan Gaels in the Crover House Adult League. After a good first half battle, two quick points before the break saw the visitors go in with a five point lead. Unfortunately, a strong Gaels side asserted dominance in the second half. Killinkere didn't lack for effort, with some impressive displays from the subs bench as well, but we struggled to turn possession into scores. Final score: Killinkere 2-2 Cavan Gael 5-18.

The men's teams then hosted Bailieborough in back-to-back Wilton Waste Recycling ACFL and Reserve League fixtures. A strong second half display from Killinkere saw them overturn a three point deficit to run out comfortable winners, 4-12 to 1-8. A Lee Phillingham save with ten minutes to go proved to be a huge turning point. A goal would have sent Bailiborough into the lead but Lee's save was the catalyst for a Killinkere counter-attack which ended with Peter McCabe finding the onion bag at the opposite end. Further late goals from Emmett Fitzsimons and Cian McGovern pushed Killinkere further ahead and helped them gain their first league win of the season.

The reserve match was similar story, with Killinkere winners, 3-12 to 0-15. Akin to the first team match, the home side struggled in the first half - albeit they created plenty of chances. However, their second half performance was excellent and they ran in some lovely goals to round off their display.
